Smiling every day could, in fact, keep the doctor away!
Research shows that when we smile, we automatically send a message to our brain that increases the flow of happy hormones. In other words, smiling activates the release of neurotransmitters dopamine, neuropeptides, serotonin and endorphins that naturally decrease stress, relax the body/mind, and lower heart rate and blood pressure.
One of the most well-known of Taoist practices is known as the “inner smile” – in which we smile inwardly to each of the major organs of our body, activating within us the energy of loving-kindness. Additinally, it wakes up and/or harmonizes the Five Elements ~ Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water~ that make up our existence.
In short, when we smile, we naturally uplift our vibes and the vibes of those around us. Because smiling is in fact contagious!

So, even when you are feeling a bit blue, pause and cop a smile or two….. Send a message to your brain and body that will help you focus on a more uplifted view, and by doing so, you will naturally make others want to smile back at you.
